The Lost Forty is just 50 miles Northeast of Bemidji and worth the drive. The untouched parcel of old-growth red and white pines is found in the Chippewa National Forest. The 1-mile hike with take you through an enchanting forest where you can see trees that are up to 350 years old!!

In 1882, a surveying mistake accidentally mapped the 40 acres as a body of water, so during Minnesota’s logging craze was left alone.

We took the family there and it was a casual hike which we ended with a snack.
