If you haven’t imbibed my thoughts on the man-made attractions Bemidji has to offer, you’re missing out!
Outdoors more your scene? There are dozens of lakes around the area, but why not start with Lake Bemidji? It’s the largest and right downtown, plus with a name like that you know it’s got to be good! Hit up a public access and take your boat out on the water for some world-class walleye fishing. Circumnavigate the 17 mile perimeter by foot or by pedal on the paved trails. Snap a few photos at the numerous look-out points and fishing piers. Have a picnic lunch on the shores of Lake Bemidji at beautiful Diamond Point Park.
Speaking of parks, we got parks! Lake Bemidji State Park as a matter of fact. Lake Bemidji State Park is your base-camp for all things outdoors. Camping, hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and more. Many hours afternoons of fun can be had at LBSP. I personally take the most enjoyment in hiking the countless miles of trails through the woods and along the famous bog walk. Hiking in the summer and experiencing nature in full bloom is great, but hiking in the spring and fall is absolutely breath-taking! Last fall I quickly filled up my camera roll snapping photos of the lake and changing leaves (note to self, invest in 64 gig SD card this fall)! I found a few anomalously warm days in March suitable for hiking as well! The trails are open all winter for cross-country skiers and snow-shoers. I’m definitely trying snow shoeing this winter!
Regardless of season, Bemidji has myriad outdoor activities to get you up of the couch and out exploring Bemijdi! Stay tuned for the biggest inspiration Bemidji has to offer.
